Crop Value Chain Development

The Ministry’s establishment of Project Desk Offices for developing value chains of key mandate crops reflects a strategic approach to harnessing Niger State’s agricultural potential and aligning with the Federal Government’s Value Chain mandate. This initiative focuses on improving productivity, market access, and agro-processing capabilities to boost farmers’ incomes and promote sustainable practices.

Mandate Crop Value Chains and Desk Officers

  1. Rice

    • Desk Officer: Bawa Aliyu
    • Focus: Enhancing rice cultivation techniques, processing facilities, and market linkages to make rice production more competitive.
  2. Sorghum

    • Desk Officer: Hassana Nakorji
    • Focus: Improving yield, promoting sorghum-based products, and developing sorghum’s industrial uses.
  3. Soya-beans/Cowpea

    • Desk Officer: Celestina Bature
    • Focus: Supporting sustainable cultivation, value addition, and export potential for legumes.
  4. Sesame

    • Desk Officer: Tauheed Ebwa Mohammed
    • Focus: Boosting production quality and promoting sesame as a high-value export crop.
  5. Cashew

    • Desk Officer: Abdullahi Baba
    • Focus: Developing cashew processing industries and improving global market access.
  6. Shea Butter/Oil Palm
