Niger State Unveils 2025 Agricultural Action Plan

The Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has launched a comprehensive 2025 action plan to boost agricultural productivity, food security, and economic growth. Key initiatives include:

Capacity Building: Training programs for staff, school garden projects, and pre-season training for farmers.
Youth Engagement: Advanced agricultural training in technologies like drone farming.
Support for Farmers: Provision of inputs, establishment of equipment hiring centers, and data-driven farmer management.
Sustainable Practices: Partnerships for carbon credit farming and enhanced nutrition programs.
Special Events: Participation in agricultural showcases to promote innovations.
Achievements from 2024 include distributing subsidized fertilizers, acquiring mechanization equipment worth ₦34 billion, supporting dry-season farmers, and partnering with key organizations like AGRA.

The plan was unveiled during an event in Minna that celebrated staff excellence and honored a retiring director. The Commissioner for Agriculture emphasized teamwork and dedication in advancing the sector. This strategic roadmap highlights Niger State’s commitment to a sustainable agricultural transformation.
